It took one week for us to plan to go out, shopping for daun. Daun? I was told by my friend that I can get a lot of dauns in Queen Saba (It's a Thai, Indon n Pinoy mini market).
Seriously, after I found this place, cooking has been an easy task for me. All the Malay cooking ingredients such as Daun Kesom, Daun Sup, Petai, Tofu, Tempe, Kailan, Sawi, Serai, Lengkuas, Kuew Teow, Tauge, Telur Masin, Daun Limau Purut, etc, can be found in Queen Saba. I feel relieved and happy when I've found all that items and cooking has been a very fun hobby. Macam Kak Sadie cakap, rasa kaya bila buka peti yg penuh dgn daun!

My gun is bigger than yours...
|
|
My wife has related many disturbing stories on her FP to me, and I find it interesting that people find it necessary to compare; food, rental, salary, company benefits, car, house, etc. It is already the n-th time and I know that people can be better than this.
In my opinion, life is an adventure and a test; work is a means to provide and to share the God-given drop of knowledge in His sea of wisdom; food is a reminder of our mortality and a means to celebrate life. And money is a piece of paper made by human beings to shift one's motivation to be economically aggressive instead of being morally just.
Personally, to avoid this confusion, I bring my family along wherever I go whenever I can. I share my knowledge and experience whenever I get the chance and praise those who do the same. And I count my blessings and hope that my presence with my family will encourage them to see the world with fairness, grace and empathy.
In this limited span of life, do people honestly want to spend their time comparing what God has already bestowed them? Who cares if a ton of alloy is formed into a Lexus or a ton of bricks is formed into a bungalow. And who cares who has the heavier ton of alloy and bricks and who can pay more (or less) for food that will end up in your rear end within 2-3 hours. When it comes to your family, your children and the PURE unconditional happiness that they bring, all that of that is just an illusion.
Always remember that all the that is granted can be taken away. But no one can take away the love of your wife/husband or the love of your children - not even after death. So if I have to go travel to the moon and back to be back home in time to play with my son, so be it.
There will always be money, there will always be work, and there will always be the metal things on wheels and the multi-ton bricks, and even the expensive MSG food. But my 2 year old son will soon be 3 and the minutes not spent with my wife and family will soon disappear.
All this is just my two cents. Read, digest, plagiarize. I don't care.
// regards
aika

Ok, this entry is not about Suria KLCC, and it's not about my friend, Suria (if u happen to read this congrats on your newborn k! ). But it's about the Malaysian Restaurant in Abu Dhabi. They sell a variety of Malaysian cuisine.
The expansive outlook gives a great feeling of space to this relatively small restaurant. The decor is modern and cool in shades of red, white and black with clear, bright lighting recessed into the white ceilings. A large mirror, modern drawings and pot plants complete the scene. We headed straight for a table near the mirror from where we could see two "mat salleh" were having their tom yam.
The ambience is nice, with Sharifah Aini's song...sukeee...it's been a long time since I heard the classic Malaysian song...but in terms of food and price alone there are better places to go or maybe for me, baik masak sendiri.... But for people who would not mind paying RM40 for one plate of "nasi lemak", it's a good place for you to dine.

Pictures during last weekends, It's the first time Aiden had his meal outside with us.
I love weekends, I love my family, I love Abu Dhabi....alhamdulillah everything seems getting better, hubby got a good renumeration from his company, anak2 are healthy and I got something to do to fill in my time. Also I got a handful of genuine friends who would choose to save me over their designer handbags if all of us are trapped in fire. Thanks guys... I couldn't ask for more am I?
~Hmmmm...yummy!~
~After makan, tolak stroller, Aiden terus tido kekenyangan!~

I bought Salmon fish head when I did my grocery at Carrefour so I thought it must be nice if I make Masak Asam Kepala Ikan (based on my MIL's recipe to put kaffir lime leaves instead of daun kesom).
Then I thought of eating it beramai-ramai baru best kan... so I invited Ian and Kak Sadie come to my house for lunch. Other than masak asam, I cooked Sup Tulang, Kerabu Sotong, Gulai Lemak Kuning Perut, Sayur Campur and Ayam Goreng. Tak tahula sedap ke tak, or maybe ada yg sakit perut....hehehe
BTW, we forgot to capture the foods...coz we all tak sabar nak makan time panas2!

The Neverending Tunes
|
|
Izz loves to watch Jim Jam or "TimTam" and singing barney's song. Sometimes he took my iPhone just to turn on Gwen's Sunday Morning song. He also loves Santana's Black Magic Woman song because I always play it on Guitar Hero. So he made it into his own tune and singing like "eungg eungg eungg"...at first, it's cute but when every second he made that noise, it's so annoying... When I tried to hush him, he'll stop for a while and continue doing the same tunes...
Then, thinking no other ways to do, I make the same tunes (but it's my version of song) and make that noise whenever he came close to me and...... it's working! I think he understood. So now he didn't make that noise again. Hahaha, if u can't beat them, join them...hihihi

Hubby just bought a new telephoto lens for his camera. Telephoto lens are best known for making distant objects appear magnified. He captured the views all around our house...and we can see each of the view in details...So here is something to share....our everyday views!

It's almost a year since I met Ian. Last time our outings was with Lina when I was going to buy BV. I remember that time, I round habis all the shops nak make decision (dahla time tu tengah early pregnancy). However, we met again this time, after Ian gave birth to her cutie daughter, Wahda who is about 1 months younger than Aiden. Birthday Wahda pun 1 day before aunty Yaya, and sama macam birthday my niece, Alyssa.
So, this outing we went out to Marina Mall and I also decided to meet Sadie. We met at the foodcourt, having lunch and then Sadie told me her friends want to kirim handbag. Then everyone was looking at me as like I'm the handbag consultant. Ian was like..."ha...tanya Yaya"...Actually I'm not that expert, but since they said I sold a few of designers bag at Euphoria Junction, I said, okla...bolehla...I just tahu sikit2 about the latest collections, price, which one is on sale, which one is worth buying + the price will appreciate, depreciate..but takdela sampai I hafal ok! But I knew a few Emiratis here that have a lot of designer bags and willing to let it go at a fair price.
Then we went into the place which I call it "tempat berhantu". There's one corner in Marina Mall which has designer boutiques, so we went in and around...Tod's, Fendi, Dior, Gucci, Coach are on sale, Dior sampai 70% ok! hehe..tapi maybe because all of us is afraid about having an impulse buying, so takdela tengok terus beli...kena balik fikir2 dulu eh? However, Ian and I scored one top each at MNG. Cannot tahan looking at their nice collections! Collections MNG and Zara over here are different tau from KL, here byk style2 baju yg decent, byk long skirts, long sleeve blouse, tu yang best tu.
Ian and Sadie, I know you'll be reading this. So when is our next outing? Joms gi Wahda Mall or Khalidiya Mall nak? I pon nak kena buat groceries ni.
