Muscat to Sohar, Oman

View all 28 photos...
At the Sindbad city, Sohar, hubby stopped at the Crown Plaza. I thought we were going there for lunch, but he said he has booked the hotel for us to spend another night. Oh, nasib baik I pack baju spare!

Sohar (Arabic: صحار‎) is the most developed city in Sultanate of Oman outside the capital Muscat. It is about 200 kilometers north of Muscat and about 200 kilometers south of Dubai. Sohar was an ancient capital of Oman and many believe it to be the birthplace of Sindbad the Sailor (*Excerpt from Wikipedia)

We went to the Sohar fort, Liwa castle and souq (at night, so sorry..bila malam saya and hubby dah takde mood nak ambil gambar ). Castle dia menarik and huge but hubby said castle in England lagi huge and it's nonsense punya huge.

And from what I observed, the ladies in Oman they are not strict to wear the abaya...they are very modern, sexy and lawa!!! (The nose yg mancung and with smoky eyes are all that matters) And I realized, Oman is a midway between India and Middle East...so some of the Omanis are like half Indian and half Arabic....but they have been ruled by Portugal and Turkish during a few hundred years ago..ada some yg cantik macam a mix of Portugese and Turks.

Zila: Salam...ak ah, ada yg cantik tu mmg cantik betul...Arab kan...memang dah in their blood.

Honey: Yes the Emiratis are obliged to wear abaya when they are outside of their home. Usually yang pakai abaya and berjambul tu are the rich Emiratis, and actually abaya tu melambangkan their culture/ tradition as an Arabic....bukan religion. Fashion pun iye
And mostly if u saw Arabic yg tak berabaya usually they are from Egypt, Syria, etc and yg Lebanon mmg byk yg non-muslim...sometimes I pun confuse...hehehe....

Tula, bila nak travel ni should check everything...in fact passport pun kena make sure valid 6 months before departure...hihihi..aritu kat Gold Coast Yaya pun hampir kena tahan sebab passport nak expire lagi 2 months, tapi nasib baik dia lepas....hehehe

Last Day in Muscat Oman

View all 24 photos...
After spending time at the beach, we slept at the hotel then in the evening we went to Muttrah Souq. Then we went back to the hotel to have dinner and prepare the next day to go back home to Abu Dhabi. Next day, early morning, I sempat bawak the kids to the pool and we checked out at 12pm. Sekejap sangat rasa berholaday...Maybe because we have wasted 1 day at the immigration that day.

And I've met Claude le Roy (Oman's football coach) and also the whole team of Oman football player because they are staying at the same hotel.

~Dah lama teringin naik ni...Best!!! I tried naik but only for 1 minute bcoz I knew I was heavy. Nanti tak pasal2 roboh! ~

S***! I Was An Illegal Immigrant For 3 Months!

View all 30 photos...
This incident happened during our trip along the way to Muscat, Oman.

Everything was going smoothly and we were very excited plus on the mood for holidaying...can't wait to see the scenery along the way to Muscat, really!! I woke up early in the morning so that we could enjoy at least half of the day in Muscat, and I was budgeting the travelling time will take about 6-7 hours via the highway.

At 7am after Subuh we departed from Abu Dhabi. 2 hours later, we reached the Oman border in Al Ain/ Buraimi and we needed to stop to apply and pay for the visit visa. Suddenly the immigration officer was asking my husband where is my entry visa stamp into the UAE. He couldn't find it and passed the passport to me, and I also couldn't find it. The immigration officer also telling us that inside the system I was still outside the UAE. OMG!!! They told me I am an Illegal immigrant because the immigration at the airport mistakenly didn't stamp my passport when I was entering the UAE with my kids last August from Malaysia. My kids passport had the stamp and I saw Izz's passport been stamped twice! It must be their mistake (and also mine because I didn't check it...yelah..I've been travelling here and there for the past 3 years everything was going smoothly so I didn't bother to check my passport pun unless just to check on the expiry and also the residency visa)

The officer brought our case to the attention to their boss and the boss said we must go to the Abu Dhabi airport to get back the stamp unless I could be in the jail for being as an illegal immigrant...I must present the ticket (mana nak cari balik, dah 3 bulan lepas) or if I've lost it, then I need to contact Etihad duty manager to get the manifest document. Tension betul...nak screaming ada, nak menangis pun ada. Since the boss seemed really strict and hubby was willing to drive back all the way to Abu Dhabi airport to get this settled, then I told myself to be positive...in every problem, there's always a way out from it...

About 2 hours later, we arrived in the airport, I had to go to the ticket counter, check in counter, duty manager office, but nobody can help us with the manifest document that I was on the flight on last August...forget it nak pergi Muscat...then I just tried my luck, I approached directly to the immigration officer, I showed my children's passports...then they said it's ok...the immigration at the border could have helped me because I got the UAE residence visa....anyway, by 2.30pm finally I got the stamp...and we rushed back to Al Ain border and we have wasted about 10 hours with 6 hours driving and hubby had to drive back and forth for about 400km!

We entered the Oman at almost 5pm when it's already getting dark. No more scenery because it's dark....and hubby was patiently drove to Muscat until we arrived at 10pm. It's about a total of 15 hours of roadtrip, and approx 800km of journey for a day, half of it full of tense...At first we thought of canceling the trip, but since we have made advance payment on the hotel and hubby's leave already been approved, might as well just go there..But what a terrible and challenging day!...Memang betul2 test our patience, and it really resemble our marriage journey (since it's anniversary trip)...challenging and banyak betul cabaran at first...but then with patience and optimism, we've made it...and we really hope we will survive a lot more cabaran and dugaan yang akan datang together... InsyaAllah...Amin.....

damnnn i pulak baca mcm takut...yaya kena take extra care nnt to check on ur passport tau..sbb u byk jalan kan..i pun always make habit to check risau ok..bab2 gini..nih mcm my trip next week...agent pi apply visa as business padahal we all nak visit ajer..bising i suh depa tukar bukan apa...tahulah kdg2 imegresen nih suka cari pasal aja..btw happy anivessary babe...here for more long live marriage and kids... kaezrin: Lesson learnt, mmg lepas tu I check kiri kana depan belakang semua exit and entry stamp mesti ada. Thanks for the wishes babe, I wish all great things for your marriage too. Enjoy your upcoming holiday k! Mon 16-Nov-2009 05:59

that's too funny. I can't help but to laugh out loud. Sorry kiddo!

Aidan pon rambutnya punya lah lebat and panjang. He's only 2 plus months and in need of trimming already! That's what I heard during labor; oh my look at the hair, you should see his hair, this little boy is very hairy, have you seen his hair?, he's got some hair, etc etc. so dorang took turn tengok my vajayjay to check out the hair. ada patut? last-last dapat unplanned c-sect sebab dia takmo keluar, my pelvis frame is only tulang temulang saja. recovery was a biatch but I'll have to have it again for the next child. The horror!!

Yeke...aiseh, sempat lagi they took turn checkout the hair! my Aiden time lahir botak! Orang cakap macam kepala prof...hopefully nnt pandai macam prof jugak la.

I never had a c-sect...but for sure bila baby keluar rasa peaceful sangat kan? I really miss playing with a newborn baby...hopefully ada chance lagi for the 3rd one..have a wonderful journey with your baby Ame!
